Legendary Coral Gables happy hour spot, Tarpon Bend, to close its doors after 15 years on Sunday, February, 10th.

With a heartfelt post, Wayne Cameron Eldred, shared some unexpected and unwanted news.  Tarpon Bend in Coral Gables will close its doors after 15 years.

Tarpon Bend helped build Coral Gables into a happy hour mecca where thirsty folks flocked to Tarpon Bend for their famous happy hour which gave away drink chips you used to get a cocktail.  Patrons would save some of the chips, others held on to them as souvenirs.  One thing is for sure, Tarpon Bend will not be forgotten and will be hard to replace.

Wayne was a friend of the industry and a great partner to the City of Coral Gables.  We hope they land in a new spot soon!

Wayne writes:

“My dearest of friends. From the bottom of my heart I want to thank each and everyone of you that has supported us at Tarpon Bend for the last 15 years. God has truly blessed me with you as my amazing guests, my incredible team members, the most unbelievably supportive investors and mentors and lastly a really tall but charming Business partner that I can call a brother. Today we will departing from our long standing location on Miracle Mile. It has been a true honor to serve each of you and your loved ones for so many wonderful years. Thank you for the many fond memories, the weddings, engagements, proposals, family parties and allowing us to throw the most legendary happy hours for the last 15 years running. May God bless all of you as he has blessed me.
