FIRST LOOK: Pappy Van Winkle Barrel Fermented Cigars

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of judging Cochon 555‘s Punch Kings portion of the event, where some of Miami’s finest bartenders were competing for the title of Miami’s Punch King and the winner receives bragging rights, a trophy, a $1000 bottle of Breckenridge Reserve Bourbon and a trip to compete at “Last Call” Tour Finale in Denver in June, 2015.  Our winner in Miami was Brian Sassen from Repour!

While enjoying the event, a gentlemen pulled out a cigar box for Bryan Nolt, of the founders of Breckenridge Distillery.  Out of the bag is a box of special edition Pappy Van Winkle Barrel Fermented Cigars.  These are some of the first live looks at the cigars  besides the website.  These are some beautiful cigars that will pair beautifully with some Pappy Van Winkle.

From the website:

“The Pappy Van Winkle Barrel Fermented cigar is a 100% long-filler, premium cigar made totally by hand in very small batches at Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua. This historic cigar features a “barrel fermented” “tapa negra”-style wrapper over a Mexican San Andres base wrapper, as well as aged Nicaraguan Filler tobaccos, personally selected by me. It is the perfect choice for pairing with any of the Van Winkle bourbon and rye products.”

We also received some samples of these as well, which we will gladly smoke and update you with a review.
