We here at Spirited Miami have never hid our love and admiration for Sweet Liberty Drinks & Supply Co.
And now, neither has the world.
Last week was Tales of the Cocktail, the world’s premiere cocktail festival which calls New Orleans its home.
Thousands of bartenders, industry professionals and enthusiasts gathered from around the world to celebrate through creative events put on by brands as well as seminars to continue to educate on cocktail culture.
The Spirited Awards are one of the last events of the Tales of the Cocktail. It celebrates the world’s best in the industry through a series of categories including, World’s Best Cocktail Menu, Best International Bar, Best American Bar, American Bartender of the Year and Best New American Cocktail Bar amongst others.
Saturday night was special for Miami as John Lermayer, who is head barman and partner at Sweet Liberty Drinks & Supply Co. got nominated not only for American Bartender of the Year but also Sweet Liberty got nominated for Best New American Cocktail Bar.
American Bartender of the Year was given to Jeffrey Morgenthaler, who deservedly so, won two Spirited Awards for the aforementioned and Best Cocktail & Spirits Writer .
But Best New American Cocktail Bar went to none other than Miami Beach’s own Sweet Liberty.

John Lermayer, Dan Binkiewicz along with David Martinez who created and operate Sweet Liberty were all on-hand to receive the prestigious award.
Congratulations to John Lermayer for being at the forefront of cocktail culture in Miami and to continue to strive for perfection.
John, along with the team at Sweet Liberty, are constantly learning and educating themselves to make sure that excellence begins with them. I am sure having John as a mentor is also a great asset.
We wish John, Sweet Liberty and the rest of the team a big congratulations! We will see you this week!
John said in the acceptance speech, “We really love what we do. We are really honored to be ambassadors for our city. I have a team behind me and if everyone involved was on this stage, it might collapse.”
He also added, “We’re going to party tonight, and we’re good at this shit!”
A group effort, no doubt.
